Schulze & Burch acquires Yarnell's Ice Cream

FBR Staff Writer Published 19 January 2012

Schulze & Burch Biscuit has completed the acquisition of Yarnell's Ice Cream, and plans to launch its products at retail stores across Arkansas, US, by this spring.

The company plans to meet the retailers to present Yarnell's product line with original formulas. It is in the process of reopening Yarnell's plant in Searcy, and plans retain some of Yarnell's former employees.

Schulze & Burch president and CEO Kevin M Boyle said the outpouring of excitement and support for the Yarnell's re-launch has exceeded the company's expectations.

"We have heard loud and clear that Arkansans want their beloved ice cream back as it was. We're looking forward to making that happen," Boyle added.

Yarnell's Ice Cream, which filed for bankruptcy in August, was purchased by Schulze & Burch in an auction for $1.3m in December. US Bankruptcy Judge James Mixon approved the sale, which included Yarnell's and its property in Searcy, as well as the company's trademarks and recipes.

Schulze & Burch produces toaster pastries and granola bars and already operates a plant in Searcy.
